Another day, another IBM acquisition. Big Blue announced its intention to buy Aperto, a digital agency based in Berlin. Aperto will become part of the interactive experience of IBM ( "IBM iX") - one of a series of services that IBM was built as part of the new wave of company business. New Aperto literally just days after IBM announced it would buy another digital marketing agency, resources / Ammirati, based in the US
Last week, IBM has also completed the acquisition of the company by its high business time AI data and Watson. As with previous agreements, financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed today.
Aperto gives IBM a loan together with customers for use in Europe and working with digital agency in areas such as website and application development, as well as major projects of the Digital Agenda. The client list includes biggies like the Group of Airbus, VW and Siemens.
It will also give IBM is a way to create another point of contact with large companies that either are already working with IBM on the other computer services or integration projects - or could potentially consider doing it now that they are already working with IBM in front-end projects through Aperto.
As IBM built other commercial partnerships with the likes of Apple, there is no doubt call to provide more experience - and work - about the task of designing and building mobile applications and other digital experiences, which will help fill that need, also.
It is also another step forward for IBM in the development of its business in whole organisms. The company says IBM iX is already the largest in the world digital agency - which is not too much of a surprise given that the fragmentation of the world remains, despite all and large movements of the giant purchasing pub as WPP and Publicis Accenture companies to develop their own tracks in this space.
"IBM iX is a world leader in the design of the experiment, which is becoming an essential part of any business strategy," said Paul Papas, global leader, IBM interactive experience, in a statement. "We are honored to partner with Aperto and look forward to reshape the future of the company and digital innovation with our customers in Germany and beyond. "
It seems that the acquisition is one of the customers, but also current employees.
"We are proud to remain at the forefront of the digital revolution. After 20 years in the industry, we are proud to collaborate with IBM iX, the world's largest digital agency, to continue to do that," said Dirk Buddensiek, CEO, Aperto said in a statement. "Among the talent that sits in the ninth team and the transformation of IBM working in cognitive space, and leadership in cloud, mobile and analysis, this time many doors for our team and customers it will open."
It is not known if Aperto raised any outside funding before sale, which is not too surprising: organizations, unlike many other new businesses tend to generate income from day one and therefore start their business.
According to IBM, the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016, subject to review of the applicable regulations and customary closing conditions.
